I should warn you, this is a "Mom Blog" and as such, sometimes there will be mom stuff like talk of diaper rash, spit-up and even (ewwwww) poop! But why be so bashful about it? In the words of Taro Gomi, everyone poops.
I started a thread on a message board I joined when I was pregnant with Ben that's all about poop.
Well.
I'm a mom. Along with getting two lines on a pregnancy test and a fat belly, you also watch all your inhibitions fly right out the window. You get poked, prodded, felt-up, patted, nearly-molested, and, eventually, you get a baby ripped from your loins all while sitting spread-eagle, pantless, in a hospital room with a light shining right on you. Yeah. Poop talk is nothing.
Along with the realization that nothing is really off-limits anymore, I also discovered that I am not who I used to be. Tim and I give each other an "allowance" every month (a terrible word, I know) that's just fun money. We can do whatever we want with it without an ounce of guilt. Two years ago, I'd have marched to the closest boutique and bought myself these (Rock & Republic, my new fave):

But instead, I spent my morning drooling over this:

Will I spend my allowance on it? That's to be seen. I blew a chunk of it on two rugs and some throw pillows today. Whoops.
Dude, I love those jeans. Never worn that brand, but they look GOOD. I'm sure the diaper's great, but girl, get the jeans! :) The diaper's for the kiddo...therefore justifiable as a NECESSARY EXPENSE. ;) The jeans have fun money written all over them.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Goodmama was doing all in ones! Oh lord, this is information I maybe needed to do without... hmmm...
ReplyDeleteHaha...Anne! I like how you think! :)
ReplyDeleteErin - I know, right? I was so excited, I want to buy ten of 'em!
Just a few thoughts:
ReplyDelete1-"You get poked, prodded, felt-up, patted, nearly-molested, and, eventually, you get a baby ripped from your loins all while sitting spread-eagle, pantless, in a hospital room with a light shining right on you." Adding this sentence to my list of why I will never have babies.
2- I agree with Anne- get the jeans.
3- Soon you will be working on potty training and you won't need all these diapers. That kid has been walking for months- he can walk to the potty!
LOL!!! Well all the poking and prodding and ripping is SO worth the end result. :)
ReplyDeleteHm, and because you mentioned that we will soon be potty trained, you're my new best friend! Man, I would LOVE to have him potty trained by 2!
chels- i'll just take your word for it on the ripping being worth it. i'm thinking adoption is the way to go- for now though, just puppies. also- yay for being your new best friend! i can always use a new friend. (:
ReplyDeleteI'm on the customs list for Good Mama...I'm hoping I can get them sometime before the new baby potty trains. It's a loooong list.
