This mama is exhausted! The hubs is on a business trip - something that's become a regular occurrence 'round these parts - and normally, that would be fine. But normally, my child sleeps. Normally he goes to bed at 7:00 and wakes up at 6:00. Last night was not normally.
I snuggled into my empty bed around midnight, thinking I'd get a glorious six hours of sleep. Hm, guess who thought wrong? At 12:30, shrieks and wails came blasting through the baby alarm (a typo that stays). That continued until 5:00, by which point my eyelids were drooping down to my knees and I was propping them up with tubes of butt paste.
I guess this is the consequence of that tooth I feel popping through. Dear teeth: please leave my child alone. Thank you.

Edited because I forgot yet another rant: See that picture above? That's Ben discovering that he can turn our DVR off and on and off and on and off and on. It would be cute if it weren't for the fact that a DVR that never stays on is of no use to me. Apparently when they're off, they don't record scheduled shows. A crazy concept, I know.
Oh Chelsea..I so feel your pain, except not only does my husband travel and work long hours, but my Addisyn goes to bed between 9:30 and 10pm and mommy gets up for work at 5:30. Nothing we have done makes her go to bed earlier and now...we have a sore throat, ear ache and molars all at once. Talk about all night crying. I love her more than anything in this world, but I feel like someone beat me up!!! My students must think I am a party animal since I have bags under my eyes most days!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping it gets much better!
Oh no Chelsea :o( I was hoping you would see an improvement in his skin. :o( Is his back side any different? HUGS. Do you have any pediatric dermatologists in your area?
ReplyDeleteI called today and Collins labs are stil not back yet. He had them drawn at the hospital and they were sent out ot a lab. I am hoping that they did not lose them.
Ciara
Oh no, there's nothing worse than a bad night without some relief from the husband. Mine travels sometimes too. I sure hope tonight is restfull for you both!
ReplyDeleteAw, Misty! That's such a bummer! I'm so sorry! Hey, I'd run with that party animal reputation. :) Bags under your eyes from having loads of fun all night are much cooler than bags under your eyes from rocking a screaming baby.
ReplyDeleteCiara - No! Still no labs? Ugh, how frustrating! I'd keep calling everyday and pestering! And yes, his butt is actually on the mend. Now if I could just figure out this face rash...
Thanks Anna! :)
Awww, we are sad and rashy over here, too...Cort was up all night screaming and itching his face :( I just emailed the ped with some, uh, *graphic* pictures of his face and bum. If that does not make my case for allergy testing, I don't know what will.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can get to the bottom of Ben's rash! Did he eat anything new yesterday? Are you supposed to be avoiding legumes in addition to peanuts? I know my best friend is deathly allergic to peanuts and she can't eat peas either...but I remember you saying Ben loves them. Did your ped mention that?
No! Cort's rashy, too? Poor kiddos. I am calling the ped today because now his face has cracked open everywhere and is bleeding. This is TERRIBLE. But his bum is much better, so yay for that! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are sending Cort's ped pictures. And how awesome that you can e-mail your pediatrician! I wonder if I can!
Also, forgot to mention that the ped didn't say anything about legumes, so I should check in. Thanks for bringing that up! He hasn't had any beans, eggs or nuts for awhile now, but he has had smashed up peas every single day.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, poor guy! :-(
ReplyDeleteYou should call and see if you can email! The girl I talked to at the reception desk said I couldn't email them because it was a security issue (?) but then I talked to the triage nurse and she thought it was a great idea! The ped looked at the pictures and said we'd talk more about it at Cort's WBV next Friday, and if necessary he could send us right downstairs after the appointment for the blood draw.
ReplyDeleteIronically, Cort's diaper rash is almost gone, too. Weird!
Wanted to add that I'm pretty sure Cort's reaction is to raspberries. Ben didn't have any of those, did he? Being that our boys seem to be cosmically connected and all...:)
ReplyDeleteHey Chelsea, Im a lurker:) and love your blog. I noticed that Ben is allergic to Peanuts, they are actually a legume so most people that are allergic to one are allergic to most...here is a list of some other common legumes or beans.
ReplyDelete* Adzuki Beans
* Black Beans
* Black-eyed peas
* Broad Beans (Fava Beans)
* Butter Beans
* Calico Beans
* Cannellini Beans
* Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans)
* Edamame
* Great Northern Beans
* Italian Beans
* Kidney Beans
* Lentils
* Lima Beans
* Mung Beans
* Navy Beans
* Pinto Beans
* Soy Beans, including black soy beans
* Split Peas
* White Beans
Lauren - no raspberries here, but I'm avoiding raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and tomato sauce. Not for any reason in particular except that my brother was VERY affected by those as a child, and Ben's childhood is reminding me so much of my brother's (sadly). So I'm just not even trying them right now.
ReplyDeleteSavannah - Thanks so much for posting that list! People have been telling me to avoid all legumes, but I wasn't really sure what that covered. I haven't given him a single bean in awhile, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that once the peas are out of his system, his rashes will improve. This parenthood stuff is EXHAUSTING! ;)
