No, I'LL DO IT!

So for about three months now, I've gone on and on (and on and on) about how much I friggin' love this stage. Seriously. love. it.

It's fun to interact with my child in a way in which he truly understands. And in which I truly understand! We just, well, get each other. He's not the most verbal child on the block. Truthfully, not even close. When he repeats after us, it's never even a close resemblance of the word. "Truck" is always "ca," as is pretty much every other mechanical thing. "Hot" is "ta" and so on. Someday I imagine he'll be able to carry on a conversation. I highly doubt he'll enter college exclaiming, "Pa, pa, pa!" when he wants more cereal. But Ben, I'm okay with it if you take your sweet time. Why? Because I understand what you're trying to say, and that's all that matters right now.

What my child lacks in the verbal realm he more than makes up for in the physical realm. He was full-on walking at eight months and has been running for months. He climbs up and down the stairs at warp speed and helps us with every chore around the house - from loading the dishwasher to pulling up weeds and putting them in the trash to vacuuming. If we're doing chores and he's not helping, he's pissed off.

And now, when we go to the store, if he isn't pushing the cart? Beware my angry little child.

Don't you dare think about strapping this child into a stroller at Home Depot! You will get his wrath, and it ain't pretty. He pushes the stroller and he pushes it like a champ!

Also, where did my child get his strong will?

  1. Oh Chelsea, clearly you are more patient than I! I just wrote a blog post about how I think this age is really hard, mostly for all the same reasons!

Cort is the same way with the grocery cart - it's funny to watch people's faces when they figure out why the cart is pushing itself two feet in front of me :)

  2. LOL My Zoe is almost 22 months old and she is the same way... very strong willed. As set in her own ways as she already is, you would think she were a 50 year old man LOL As a sidenote, after "mama" and "dada" her first three words were no, stop, and move. Then she moved on to "mine" ... LOL

Your little boy's personality and determination to push that stroller may land him in the White House one day :) Nourish his stubbornness honey LOL!!
