So depending on how long you've followed this blog or known me, you may or may not remember the horrible face rash Ben got his second winter of life. It looked like this. We never figured it out and eventually assumed bananas were to blame since we found out he's allergic to them. Well, then we had Addie and she's also developing the face rash now.
Ben's face rash disappeared after that winter, but each winter since he gets a very minor rash around his mouth still. And behind his knees? Oh, lawdy. It's bad. It's pretty much like his old face rash. I gave up doing anything about it long ago. The only real solutions have been to bathe him as infrequently as possible (children with eczema shouldn't have more than one or two baths a week when they're young) and...well...that's it.
And then a friend mentioned Arbonne. I've never heard of it but when she said the ingredients are safe and it's fragrance-free and she said parents have raved about success with their children who have eczema, I figured it couldn't hurt to try, right? So she gave me a sample of their Arbonne Baby Care Body Oil and Body Lotion and told me to use both.
And then it sat in my cabinet for at least a month. See, I've tried everything. Every lotion, cream, etc. Nothing has ever worked which is why a long time ago I just quit even putting anything on it. So I was not only skeptical, I just knew it wouldn't help. So I forgot.
And then I opened the cabinet the other day right after I'd bathed Ben and I thought, hm, might as well try, right? And then I put some oil and lotion on Addie's face. And then, again, I forgot about it.
But the next day I was putting Ben's clothes on and noticed that behind his knees weren't red at all. Um, what? Then I felt his legs, which have always been covered in eczema. And...they were smooth. And then I noticed Adalyn's face wasn't red. And I about fainted.
Nothing has EVER worked. Why this? I've never even heard of Arbonne. Even the prescription cream didn't do a thing for Ben.
I don't know why it works. But it does. And I'm so blown away that I HAD to write about it, especially because I still get emails and comments on that face rash post from parents going through the same thing.
It looks like you can buy it here. Or you could always email me or comment here and I'd be happy to hook you up with my friend who I believe is a consultant and sells it still. But don't quote me on that.
It's like...a miracle. And from everything I can tell, seems to be safe. I tried looking it up on the Skin Deep Cosmetic Database because I'm a nerd and live there, but it's not there. So of course I had to go dig around on their website to read about the ingredients and they seem to be focused on safe ingredients.
Anyway, in case anyone else out there is still struggling with this same problem, there you are! The miracle eczema cure! Works on both my children.
Hey Chelsea, My friend and neighbor Laura sells Arbonne, I used it several years ago and still use some things from there. It's a great product! Let me know if you need her info! I haven't tried that for Emma's eczema, but hers clears up after a little hydrocortizone cream:)
ReplyDeleteMan, I think everyone sells it, huh? I'm pretty sure Em sells it (this is where I got the sample from) and Heather...maybe used to? Not sure if she still does. Just found out another friend sells it, too. How have I never heard of it before?!
